Hey JT,
I've watched all your videos and you've done a nice job. I just came from your Hub page and answered the poll question on what kind of video we would like you to create next. I chose how to place a video on your blog.
But not like you have done here by using the embed code from YouTube. I use Camtasia to make screen capture videos and I like the quality of video when I produce the video as flash video and use a .swf file extension.
I'm trying to find anyone that can show me how to embed .swf flash videos on my Wordpress blog. I have done it but I can't make the controls show up so the video just plays over and over again. There's a lot of videos that I'd like to make but I don't want to put them on Youtube. I will put some there but most will be just for my list and for our fellow students.
Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff Sargent
Hi Jeff,
I don't actually use the embed code from you tube. I use a plugin called Mediacaster. I adds a button on your editor that you use when you write a post.
You click on the button and it asks you to enter a url. This doesn't have to be YouTube video. All you need is the url for any video on the net. The last video I posted was on Viddler because it was too big for YouTube.
Do you see how easy that is? I think the quality is still Ok. I made all my videos with Camtasia version 6.
Don't be shy Jeff. Even if the video is targeted for our fellow students you should use Tube Mogul or something similar to distribute your videos to as many directories as possible.
If nothing else, for the SEO value alone. Just make sure the first thing you put in your description is the url to your blog. That gives you a visible back link on all your listings.
I will add the "hard" way to put your video on the blog as well. The problem with that is you have to produce your video in a smaller size. That is why you see most of the gurus always redirect to a new web page when you watch a video.
If you want the full Camtasia player, the best way is to produce the video as it's own web page and just provide a screen shot that is a click-able link.
I may create multiple videos to show the different ways. Don't be disappointed if the first is the easy way. I am trying to help the people that are struggling with this stuff so I want it to be as easy as possible.
