internet-marketing-strategyI still can't believe that I haven't made a post in 4 months. Just goes to show how easy it is to get caught up in your life and everyday comings and goings that seem to eat up all of your time.

It is one of the reasons why so many people who try to make money online end up failing. The statistics say only 5 out of 100 end up sticking with it. Those are pretty unsurrmountable odds when you think about it.

That is why it's so important to have a plan, and not just a plan, but a detailed map with action items. Ideally you would project out for the entire year but at a minimum, the next 3 months. Make sure that you make a new "daily to do list" at the end of each day.

Trust me when I say that "lack of focus" will keep you from achieving your goals. Especially, if you have a family and a full time job. It is the main reason that I have not made a blog post in almost 4 months.

Let's face it, as Internet marketers we are bombarded with all kinds of get rich quick, do it all with the push of a button type offers. It's no wonder that most beginning IM'ers have a bad case of the "Shiny Object Syndrome".

The problem is that we WANT an easy solution so bad that we let are selves be drawn in by the false promises of easy money with little or no effort. But beginners are not the only ones that get caught up in the latest and greatest new software or technique.

The key is to create a plan and STICK TO IT!

When you create your plan, think about what your ultimate goal is that you want to accomplish with your business. Every step of your plan should bring you closer to achieving that goal. If it doesn't, then you need to ask yourself why you are doing it.

The more targeted your actions are, the faster you will come to achieving your end goal.

Now, you want to always try and stick to your plan but always look at the results of your actions to make sure they are accomplishing what you intended. You may have to make strategic adjustments along the way.

This will be true especially if this is all new to you. That it why you must always test what you are doing and know your metrics. If you are not having success with a tactic then make some tweaks or stop doing it all together.

On the other hand, if you are having great success with something then increase your efforts and try to make it even more productive. Concentrate on the things that are making you the most money and quit wasting your time on things that aren't.

The only exception to this rule is when it comes to helping people. There is no way to measure the "karma", or what ever you want to call it, that you achieve buy "paying it forward" and helping your fellow man.

I believe that it all comes back to you 10 fold and so far I have seen nothing to make me believe other wise. That is why I am going to resume hosting the free webinars again like I did at the beginning of the year.

I have some really great stuff coming up and am going to pick a small group of people and mentor them for free. I haven't decided exactly how I am going to make my selection but it is probably going to be some sort of a contest.

In the mean time. Take a day this week and plan out your strategy for the rest of this year that is going to take you closer to your goals for your online business. Also, please take a sec to "like" the post or give it a "+1".

The new yellow pages is Google. The old yellow pages usually ends up in the trash or the bottom of a bird cage. But don't be hasty and throw them away just yet. They can still serve a useful purpose.

Especially if you are helping local businesses with their online marketing like I am. The yellow pages is a big list of potential customers. I love to see those big full page color ads.

That means some business owner in my neighborhood is spending thousands of dollars a year for advertising that has become all but obsolete in today's market.

The door is wide open for me to step in and show them how to spend that money on advertising and lead generation that is much more effective and has results that can be tracked.

The local marketing niche is still wide open. Less then 50% of businesses have websites although that is about to change quickly. The reason is because Google has created the sites for them. More on The New Yellow Pages?

Well, Christmas is behind me (I hope you had a great one) and I am getting ready for the upcoming new year. I have already started "brain storming" and coming up with a game plan for 2011. I am going to take things in a new direction this year but not entirely. I am going to keep going with the Internet marketing but will be focusing my attention on helping newbies by holding weekly webinars.

The new part of my business is going to be more of a traditional type business in that I will be dealing with local businesses in my area. It will still be dealing with the internet but my clients will be offline.

I stumbled upon this almost by accident. I still work a 40 hour per week job at a company that specializes in automated welding. The company owns their rather large building and leases a portion of the space. More on New Directions For 2011
