I just have to give a shout out to my number one fan! My daughter turned 4 years old today.
Man they grow up so fast!

It's only a matter of time now. I should be finished with the ebook tonight. All I have to do is make sure that I have all of the back end components in place and that all the links work and go where they are supposed to go. Then I will make a couple test runs to double check that the system runs smoothly and like I planned.
For those that are wondering, it's not just about creating the ebook. While I am giving the ebook away for free, my goal is to make about $500 within the first 30 days that the ebook is live. This will happen through various affiliate links that are in the ebook and from back end offers that will be presented to my subscribers via my auto responder.
That is how the "big dogs" build their lists and get payed to do it. My mentor, Alex Jeffreys, has taught me that if you provide as much value as you can and give away the farm for free, your subscribers will be begging you to buy something from you later down the road.
Well I am about to put that theory to the test. I have been using the strategies Alex presents in his free ebook, "List Building With Alex", and I have added almost 500 subscribers to my email list. These are verified subscribers. If I include every lead I generated the number is over 700.
I have been participating in JV Giveaways and PLR products to achieve these results. My ebook is designed to help me leverage the JV Giveaways to produce even more subscribers per event and will be the lead in to my next project. Some time in the very near future, I am going to host my own JV Giveaway event.
Now I have been thinking of a way that I could include some of my fellow students as partners in this event. There will of course have to be some basic requirements that will have to be met. One will be your own original product that will have a permanent place on the first page of gifts.
I was thinking that I could have a script that would rotate the various partners opt in forms on the sign up page. That way the major partners will all get to add thousands of subscribers to their list. I just finished reading Jason James free report for his new Giveaway Riches product.
He talks about his 3 "Greedy Giveaway" events that he hosted and how he averaged over 11,000 new subscribers per event. He then goes on to say how those results are nothing compared to some of the events run by Henry Gold where he added over 28,000 subscribers in 2 weeks time.
There is also money to made from the one time offers and the upgrades that could be split amongst the partners. Jason said he averaged about $5000 per event. That's not exactly chump change although the real value is in the subscribers.
I am probalby looking for no more than 3 or 4 partners. We will share in the cost of the software to run the JV which is about $300. I have a hosting plan that has unlimited bandwidth, server space, domains, and everything so that is covered. I have placed a support ticket to make sure that the server I am on can handle that kind of traffic.
The partners will have to share in the duties of running the support desk and possibly any expenses that might be incurred if the services of a programmer are required. I think I can handle setting up the script, but you never know. There will also be the cost of the website graphics and some promotional banners which will be another $200 – $300.
We will also need to put together some promotional emails. I think the partners can probably handle this on their own. We will decide on whether we buy any advertising as we go. It depends on what kind of JV partners we have as we approach launch day.
I am totally open to suggestions. If anyone has any ideas or you are seriously interested in being a partner then leave a comment.

I am talking about Traffic Kahuna. Now this won't be for all of Alex Jeffreys students. If you are a complete newbie, this will not be worth the investment. There is going to be a pretty good learning curve for some one with experience, simply because the amount of training and knowledge that is given inside the members area is incredible.
I have been a member for almost a month now and have only scratched the surface. I am not going to go into all of the details right here because there are just to many. Here is what you need to know.
Traffic Kahuna will open it's doors tomorrow and usually the memberships sell out in a matter of hours. There are people on a waiting list for this. I waited 6 months before I was able to join. You need to go to http://www.traffickahuna.com/invite/jtmartin/blogpost and sign up for the announcement list now. The page is going to tell you that the doors are closed. Some time tomorrow you will receive an email that will tell you the doors are opened.
If you want in, I would hurry. It's not cheap, the price is $147 per month, but worth every penny. That is, if you take action and use the tools inside. If you join and don't do anything then you won't see any results so don't waste your time or money if that is what you are going to do.
For those of you that are in Alex Jeffreys coaching program, I will reimburse $20 a month to you out of my commission. Just make sure you join through the link in this post or in the sidebar of my blog and then leave me a comment and I will email you .
If you can afford it and have the time, this would be an awesome supplement to your Alex Jeffreys coaching. These are the same guys that run Portal Feeder, which is where I learned most of my SEO kowledge and a lot about using Web 2.0 sites to drive traffic. All of this training is in the members area.
You also get access to their Blog Feeder network, software that lets you submit your videos to 40 different sites in about 15 minutes (like Traffic Geyser), a web 2.0 co-op (this is worth the monthly fee), and access to their blog network. These are only the main points. You will see all the details on the sales page when they open.
Now remember, do not spend your money if you are not going to use the tools and training. There is a lot of it. I don't want any one coming back and saying that I recommended something that doesn't work. Nothing works if you don't apply it. It will take you 10 hours or more just to watch all of the training videos. This is not some magic button you push and start making money.
It is…an incredible collection of training and tools that will increase traffic to your blog, (other then fellow students), and boost your rankings in the search engines. I hope some of you take advantage of this when you have the chance. When you get the email saying the doors are open, you need to jump on it because they won't stay open long. Remember, all students of Alex Jeffreys will get a $20 per month discount.

And my blog is sinking into the SERPS faster than the Titanic. I just checked my blog and I am now ranked 103 for the search term Alex Jeffreys.
Fast Forward 24 hours.
That was the beginning of a blog post that I started yesterday morning and saved as a draft to finish when I got home from work. Thank goodness I got some things sorted out with my blog and discovered the reason why Google was "pimp slapping" me. My blog is now back on the second page of results and things seem to be back to normal.
The culprit was a plugin called "simple tagging". It was causing "broken" links all over my site which would keep the spider bots from being able to crawl my blog properly. When the spiders run into a lot of dead ends they will sometimes leave the site and not crawl it at all. I knew it had to be something of this nature.
Since Alex Jeffreys started the contest to get ranked number 1 for his name, I have been experimenting with different "title" tags. When it comes to on page SEO, the title tag of your blog is the most important factor followed by H1 and H2 tags. A quick note on title tags. You have 65 characters before Google cuts off your title. You also want to use your target keywords often, but naturally. It is also been proven that if you use the "strong" tag and "em" tag on your keywords, it will improve your results.
Back to the contest. I had changed my title tag about a week ago. The listing in Google was still showing my old title after a week. This is not normal. If you have a farily active blog, Google will be crawling your site almost daily. Especially if you make daily blog posts. Your blog sends out pings every time you make a new blog post.
If you go to your blog admin and click on Settings/Writing you will see a box at the bottom of the page that says "Update Services". This lets you control who your blog pings. Here is what you need to do if you want to get spider bots swarming all over your blog.
- Go to http://pingler.com
- Click inside the box that says Ping Services
- Press CTRL and A on your keyboard
- Press CTRL and C on your keyboard
- Go to your admin page and to Settings/Writing
- Click inside the box that says Update Services
- Press CTRL and V on your keyboard
You will now automatically ping all of these services everytime you make a post. Now there is a precautionary measure that you might want to consider. If you go back in and edit a post several times after you publish it, WordPress will ping these services everytime you make an update.
If you do this several times within a few minutes, you could possibly get banned for pingspamming. Installing the "Smart Update Pinger" plugin will eliminate this potential problem. Your post will only be pinged when it is initially published.
Anyhow, I knew that Google wasn't crawling my site. I went to my Google account and used the Webmaster tools to analyze my site. Sure enough, it said there were 30 something urls they couldn't spider. This steered me in the right direction that eventually led to me fixing the problem.
There is an important lesson to be learned from this. When you make changes to your website, make them one at a time and then wait at least a few days to see what the effects are. This is also true for any kind of testing you do. You want some sort of control. You have to be scientific and systematic. Only change one variable at a time and then monitor the results.
SEO is a long term strategy. There are ways to create quick SEO results but they are Black Hat methods and Google will eventually catch up to you and possibly ban your IP address and domain forever. You can also report any suspicious activity directly to Google if you suspect that someone is using Black Hat methods.
Black Hat includes things like:
- hidden text or links
- misleading or repeated words
- deceptive redirects
- doorway pages
- cloaked pages
- duplicate sites or pages
Google considers all of these as spam and if you get caught, and you will, they will ban your domain and all your hard work is for naught.
The best SEO strategy is to provide valuable, fresh, and relevant content. You can optimize your site but don't over do it or it will look spammy. Make sure your navigation is "spider friendly". There are things you can do to help on page and off page. I have talked a little about on page today and will make another post with some off page tips tomorrow.
