This other day I was on a webinar with my coach, mentor, and friend, Alex Jeffreys. He was telling me about the upcoming launch of his new ebook, "Newbies Nightmare". This is some what of an inside joke for myself and fellow students of Alex's first coaching program.

Alex coined the phrase during one of our coaching sessions a few months back. Those few months almost seem like years now. It seems like a long time because I have made such huge advances with my online business.

Now I am not a newbie per say as I have made some money online. Over the last 3 -4 years I have taught myself a lot about SEO and social media. I can set up a website or blog without too much trouble and have a pretty good knowledge of how to put the bits and pieces together for a marketing campaign.

Some of my fellow students were not so lucky and I remember that when I first started trying to do all of these things it was a nightmare for me as well. What I found was that even though I knew how to do a lot of these things there was still a very big hurdle for me.

That hurdle was uncertainty. I had read so many ebooks and bought so many products that promised to be that "blueprint" that would take you to riches, but it was all just generalized crap that left out some very important aspects of creating an online business.

I had tried so many things that brought mediocre or no results. I decided to go to some live events and rub shoulders with the people who are making it big on the Internet. I quickly discovered a couple recurring themes that kept popping up in conversations.

I made it a point to approach some of the big "guru types" and try to pick their brains a little. They all asked me one or both of these questions.

  • Are you building a list?
  • Who is your mentor?

Now while I was kind of half heartedly building a list, I had not considered a mentor. Well, let me re-phrase that. I knew that I couldn't afford a mentor.

Actually, the truth of the matter is that considering the time and effort that I had spent over the last few years, I couldn't afford not to have a mentor. This still didn't change the fact that I was looking at several thousand dollars to secure the advice of one of the big gurus.

It was not possible for me at the time so I put it at the top of my priority list and started to squirrel away money to make it happen some time in the future. Well, as luck would have it, I got an email from Mike Filsaime one day. This is a common occurrence seeing as I am on his email list.

He was going on and on about one of his students, Alex Jeffreys, and how Alex was opening his first ever coaching program. I clicked on the link and was taken to a video. I sat and listened to Alex and was immediately taken in by his obvious passion for Internet marketing.

By the time he got to the end of the video I was actually a little depressed. The reason I was depressed is because I really liked this guy and he sounded like he was offering exactly what I wanted. The problem was that I just knew he was going to drop the big price tag here in a few seconds as the video was winding down.

I almost fell out of my chair reaching for my mouse when he said that he was only going to charge $497. Now I am not one to jump into anything. I quickly went to Google and started doing some due diligence. I had heard the name a few times but had never read or used one of his products.

When I was looking around, I saw something that was very different. Most of the stuff that he had produced, he gave away for free. I ran across his latest report, Guru's Dream, downloaded it and read it. I then went back to the sales page and signed up.

Turns out, that was the best decision that I have made in a long time. The seven training modules along with the un-announced bonus modules, which included webinars with people like Maria Andros and Andrew Fox, have changed the way I do business on the Internet and have increased my profitability.

Alex also showed me how to increase my productivity by planning and setting goals. I work a 40 hour job and have a family that takes up most of my time. The time I spend on my Internet business needs to be super productive. Alex showed me how to concentrate on the things that make me money and avoid the time "wasters" like email, Skype, and doing things I'm not qualified to do.

The webinar was this past Friday night. It got me thinking about all the things that I learned and the changes that I have made to my business plan over the last 6 months. I have been revisiting some of the modules and also looking through the journal that I keep.

I am really amazed at how different things are for me now. Before Alex Jefferys coaching program, I was just about ready to give up on the whole Internet marketing thing. My wife  was pressuring me to do so and I couldn't argue with her anymore. I had spent a lot of money trying this and trying that and really not making any significant progress.

The coaching program was going to be the last chance. If I couldn't make it work with the aide of someone who "really" knew how to make money online then that was going to be it. I am so glad that I gave it one last shot.

The first module was about planning and goal setting. On new year's day I made on comment on Garry Parkes blog and listed my goals for 2009. My main personal goal was to take my family on a vacation to Venezuela. My wife is from there and she hasn't been home in 5 years.

Well, this coming Monday morning, we get on a plane headed for Caracas. The plane tickets and the two thousand dollars fun money are compliments of my online business. The fact of the matter is that since joining Alex Jeffreys coaching program, I have made more money online than I did the previous 3 years put together.

I am telling you this because Alex is going to be giving away his new ebook "Newbies Nightmare". He will also be launching his new coaching program in the next couple weeks. I have decided to go through my student journal and share what I did over the last 6 months to turn my online business around.

I will make a series of blog posts over the next 5 or 6 days that will relate the techniques and strategies that Alex taught me and how they ultimately changed the profitability of my business and my life. So stay tuned. I am going to reveal some killer stuff over the next few days.

I am getting ready to drive to the airport and catch a plane for Alex Jeffreys workshop in Las Vegas. The event is for the students from his first coaching program that started in November of last year. Once I found out he was having the event, I started saving money and added it to my list of goals for 2009.

I created my list of goals as a direct result of Alex Jeffreys coaching. The first module of the course was all about planning and goal setting which in turn makes you more productive. I set goals in 4 different areas: personal, entrepreneurial, business, and income.

The first goal was to take the wife and kids on a vacation to Venezuela. My wife is from there and has not been home to see her family in 5 years. I am proud to say that the tickets are purchased and we will be departing on June 22nd for 6 weeks of South American fun. This was made possible becuase of the things that I learned from Alex Jeffreys.

One of my business goals is to build an email list of 7500 people. I am now at about 2700 but have not even hosted my JV Giveaway yet. I am hosting one with my fellow students Garry Parkes, Gary Simpson, and Carl Barton that will be taking place within the next week or two. I intend to follow with one of my own and probably several others after that. Once again, Alex Jeffreys is responsible for prompting me to use JV giveaways to build my list.

I set my income goal for the year at $100,000. I know that seems like a lot but I like to set my goals high. I don't think that I will be disappointed if I fall a little short. Even though I am almost halfway through the year and have not made even close to that. I am still optimistic.

You see, most of my plans will not come into fruition for a few months. I have made over $5000 this year, which paid for the plane tickets to Venezuela. This was from affiliate promotions that I sent to my newly built email list and from links in my ebook that I published and gave away for free.

I had the money for Vegas set aside a month or so ago but Murphy's law reared it's ugly head. Any one not familiar with Mr. Murphy? His law states: "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."

It wasn't just one thing, it was a bunch of things. I won't go into it all because a lot of it is personal and I don't want to bore you more than I already am. Suffice it to say that all of a sudden, I was not going to make it to Vegas. But it's funny how things can work out when you want something bad enough.

If you have never read Napolean Hill's "Think and Grow Rich", then you need to. He talks about the power of auto suggestion. Basically, if you want some thing and truly believe that you can acheive it, you will acheive it. What you think will come to pass, but only if you beleive it will with all your heart and desire.

When I read this part of the book, the first thing that came into my mind was prayer. When some one prays for something to what ever deity that you believe in, it is usually with very strong desire and emotion. If you want something bad enough, you will pray for it every night for a long period of time.

The act of wanting something with such deep emotion transmutes into action on a subconcious level. With out knowing, you will begin to take action that will eventually resolve itself into the very thing that you desired in the first place. That is the power of "prayer" or "auto suggestion" in scientific terms.

Well I guess I wanted it bad enough because

"I'M GOING TO VEGAS BABY"

One of my entrepreneurial goals was build joint venture partnerships. I have created a few so far but hope to "up the stakes" in Las Vegas. There are going to be several other large events taking place at the same time as Alex's. Hopefully I can make some profitable connections while I am there.

That goes without saying that Alex is going to show us step by step how he plans his business and I am sure he has alot more planned for us. All through our coaching program he always surprised and over delivered. I expect this to be more of the same.

Well, I am running out of time. I have a plane to catch at 4:45. I will make some posts from Vegas and let you know what's going on. I am also taking my video cam so I should get some choice footage to share as well.
